When I come to the Muskegon, I always fish the tailwater of Croton Dam at Kimball Park and Pine Street access. I can wade in the water safely at these two access points.
There are always many rainbow trout, and there must be many brown trout too. But I've never caught brown on the Muskegon.
I headed up to the Pere Marquette River in the morning on the next day. But it was not wider than I expected. I wanted to fish the big and wide river, so I went back to the Muskegon. I couldn't catch big trout but many small rainbow trout, 10 inches long or so.
