There are two famous trout rivers, the Rolling Fork and the Frying Pan in the town of Basalt. I fished Frying Pan for a couple of hours on the first day. There were some nice rainbows but I had no luck. On the second day, I fished Frying Pan again. I started fishing on the downstream. There are many small parking lots along the river. But every spot got crowded with anglers. Then I headed up to the Ruedi Dam. I used dry flies I bought at the fly shop in Basalt for all day long but got no luck. Finally, I caught small brown by a nymph. QED
