PAUL: Do much fishing out east?
NORMAN: None.
PAUL: None? What do you say? Big Blackfoot.

The scene of the story A River Runs Through It is laid in the Blackfoot River but Hollywood chose the Gallatin River to film the story.

Gallatin river reminded me of some Japanese mountain streams I fished in Japan. Scenery in the Gallatin Canyon is beautiful and the river looks like Japanese mountain stream. Fast current, big boulders, cold and clear water, snakes, deer, and black bears are common here as well as Japanese mountain streams. I simply drove up to Gallatin Gateway from West Yellowstone to enjoy beautiful scenery and find fishing access this day. I fished only a couple of hours this day. Gallatin is very popular with both fishermen and rafting tours during the summer. QED
