In 1919, Ernest Hemingway's Nick Adams stepped off the train in Seney to do some trout fishing in the "Big Two-Hearted River".
Evidence is strong that Hemingway fished the Fox River, but borrowed the more romantic name of a river similar in character located 25 miles northeast.

We headed to the Fox River today. Roaming the hiking trail along the river, we fished at some wide-open spots.
After lunch, we moved to the east branch of the Fox River but no fish there. Then we moved to the Driggs River.
Atsushi caught a couple of small brook trout but I had no luck during this fishing trip.
